The state of Texas is home to more than 1.4 million Veterans, which represents the second largest state Veteran population in the country. I understand the challenges facing our men and women in uniform as they return to civilian life, and I’m proud to work with Endeavors to provide support for Veterans and their families. Endeavors is the largest provider of Supportive Services for Veteran Families and Cohen Veteran Network mental health clinics in Texas. Endeavors serves Texas Veterans by offering short-term emergency housing, mental health and wellness resources, job placement assistance and other critical resources. Endeavors has compassionately served vulnerable populations through comprehensive, effective and innovative services for more than 50 years with a mission of restoring dignity and offering hope to Veterans in need.
As Christians we’re called to extend grace and offer dignified care to those we encounter in crisis. Endeavors does just that. Founded on the belief that God calls us to love and serve all people, they offer compassionate, holistic care for vulnerable populations in our community – including physical and mental health resources – and Endeavors has played a vital role assisting migrant populations.
In the aftermath of our recent experiences with disasters and emergencies, many organizations stepped up and assumed important roles. One of these groups was Endeavors. They became the largest Disaster Case Management provider in Puerto Rico working with 50 out of 78 municipalities. Their team and case managers helped us identify the immediate needs of those most impacted by Hurricane Maria while planning for long-term recovery. Their collaboration with the reconstruction, maintenance of roofs and coordination of a huge number of volunteers who helped survivors was especially critical. Endeavors’ case managers understood that there is no ‘one size fits all’ response to disasters and worked hard to respond to the unique challenges we faced with appropriate sensibility and urgency.
