The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Endeavors, San Antonio provide high-quality, accessible, and integrated mental health care to Veterans, regardless of role while in uniform, discharge status, or combat experience, active duty service members (with a TRICARE referral), and military families.

SERVICES OFFERED

  • Telehealth

    Our Cohen Clinics provide Telehealth, a virtual therapy option that allows clients to attend appointments in real-time through confidential, HIPAA-compliant video conferencing software. Shown to be equally as effective as in-person therapy, video conferencing therapy has become a viable alternative to traditional on-site therapy. To utilize Telehealth, clients need a secure internet connection and a device such as a smartphone, computer, or tablet with audio and video capabilities.

  • Case Management

    Based on specific needs, our case managers will link individuals to essential resources including housing, financial assistance, legal services, employment, education, etc., and will monitor referral results to ensure all needs are addressed.

  • Life-Skills & Wellness Events

    Additional activities to build positive life skills and encourage wellness are offered through our Cohen Clinics. Veterans, active duty service members, military families, and community partners are invited to take advantage of financial and employment workshops, caregiver and military informed care trainings, marriage management, couples cooking classes, women Veterans groups, Yoga, Tai Chi, and more.

  • Support Groups

    Our Cohen Clinics provide various support groups to help our clients achieve their goals. Topics in these groups include conquering anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder, art therapy, and anger management, and are specially designed for Veterans, active duty service members, and military families who are looking to build new friendships, gain a renewed sense of community, strengthen bonds with others through shared experiences, and learn new solutions that will assist them in handling challenges.

  • Medication Management

    Our psychiatric nurse practitioners provide time-limited, evidence-based practices that serve individual adults, couples, families, and children. Diagnoses may include mood, anxiety, transition, adjustment, impulse control, conduct, learning, and mild developmental disorders, as well as PTSD.

Dr. Scott P. Rheinschmidt is the Clinic Director for The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Endeavors, San Antonio, where he provides leadership to an extensive staff of professional counselors who provide services to over 300 Veterans and military families.
A military Veteran having served over 24 years, Scott’s time in the military included overseas deployments in support of OEF/OIF. Serving in the counseling profession for over 20 years in various capacities, Scott holds a supervisory credential in Professional Counseling, is a board-certified Clinical Hypnotherapist, and is a certified Trauma Treatment Provider.
He helps the Cohen Clinic by ensuring a well-equipped, organized, and trained staff fills the gap in counseling services needed by so many Veterans and their family members.
Scott’s activities outside of work include practicing Kung Fu and Tai Chi, as well as enjoying outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, and shooting sports.

Rhonda Galloway is the Lead Clinician for The Steven A. Military Family Clinic at Endeavors, San Antonio, where she leads and ensures all clinical staff offer quality care to Veterans and military families. With advanced experience in couples, children, and family therapies, her treatment approach focuses on engaging the entire family system, rather than just the individual. Offering trauma-informed care, Rhonda is skilled in providing treatments such as Prolonged Exposure, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.
Prior to working at the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Endeavors, she worked closely with active duty service members, providing intensive services at a Partial Hospitalization Program in the Killeen/Fort Hood area.
Rhonda’s unique experience of growing up in a military family and expertise in working with the family system allows her to lead the team from a system and relational perspective, focusing on offering the best care for military-connected families.
In her spare time, Rhonda enjoys traveling with her husband.

Chandra Peterson is a Clinician for The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Endeavors, San Antonio. In her role, Chandra provides counseling services while delivering culturally competent, evidence-based services through her commitment to continued education in fields relevant to Veterans and military families.
Dedicating the past 12 years to working with active duty service members, Veterans, and their families in various capacities, Chandra's professional experience includes both direct practice and community outreach, and organization with a wealth of training experience in areas of family violence prevention, anger, and stress management.
Chandra’s clinical experience includes assessment, therapy with adults, and couples therapy, with specialty training in crisis response planning, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Chandra offers support and guidance as a Social Work supervisor for students from local universities and other social work programs.

He is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CCMHC) who specializes in adult, individual, and couples therapy. His professional focus involves trauma, suicide prevention, peer to peer support, and stress management.
Dave is a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel who started his Army career as an enlisted soldier in December 1987. Retiring on September 30, 2019, he served in several overseas combat deployments as an infantryman in the 82nd airborne division. Additionally, Dave completed assignments at the United States Military Academy, the Army Command and General Staff College, and in France with the French Rapid Reaction Corps.
Dave’s hobbies outside of work include traveling, scuba diving, hunting, and fishing.

Dr. Karina L. Bocanegra is a Remote Virtual Clinician for The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Endeavors, San Antonio, and has worked in the behavioral health field since 2013.
A native El Pasoan, Karina holds a Bachelor’s degree from The University of Texas at El Paso in Psychology. Additionally, she holds both a Master’s degree and a Doctoral degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Saint Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas.
With clinical experience including individual counseling, as well as couple and family therapy, Karina helps the Cohen Clinic treat couples and families with relationship issues using evidence-based practices and treats individuals with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Karina is fluent in both English and Spanish and has experience in Crisis Response Planning and was selected to be part of the Minority Fellowship Program of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists for two years in a row, where she presented her research on Hispanic soldiers and substance abuse.
Coming from a Veteran family in which her grandfather, father, and older sister all served on active duty, Karina is familiar with the many challenges service members and their families face.

She has completed her Master’s degree from Texas A&M San Antonio and has worked in Social Services for over 15 years. Imelda has helped the Cohen Clinic from the first day it opened its doors by providing services as a Case Manager, Intake Coordinator, and Clinician and continues to provide counseling services to Veterans and military families.
In her spare time, Imelda likes to spend time with her family and parents, eating and having a good time. She also enjoys listening to podcasts.

A Clinician for The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Endeavors, San Antonio, Laillah Guice is a Licensed Professional Counselor who served 20 years in the military. As a combat Veteran who served in Afghanistan, Laillah is proud to have served in two military branches, dividing her time between the United States Navy and United States Air Force.
After retiring from the military, she obtained a Master’s degree in Counseling, leading her to an internship at the Vet Center, where she served Combat Veterans and Veterans who had experienced Military Sexual Trauma. She then transitioned to a Partial Hospitalization Program, outpatient clinic, where she treated acutely mentally ill and active-duty military patients.
Laillah’s areas of focus are military sexual trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), combat traumas, non-combat traumas, and couples counseling. When she is not serving her family, Veterans, and military families, Laillah is serving her community through speaking engagements, sharing her knowledge and expertise to empower others to stay on the path of mental health.
She has a passion for creating essential oil blends for physical wellbeing and loves to share the recipes she creates with friends and family.

She is fluent in both English and Spanish and provides online therapy via Telehealth to Veterans and military families. Jeanette helps the Cohen Clinic lead efforts in providing a short-term treatment model utilizing evidence-based practices suited to meet the unique needs of the military population.
She holds a Master of Science degree in Counseling for Mental Health from the University of Phoenix and has over ten years of leadership experience. Through holding a diverse range of management positions in social service nonprofit and for-profit agencies, she has garnered considerable experience serving victims of trauma, with much of her focus being on military/Veteran populations.
As the recipient of the 2018 "The Founder's Award" through Cohen Veterans Network (CVN), Jeanette has been recognized for her level of integrity, collaboration, and excellence as exemplified by the CVN founder, among other distinctions in the field.
In her spare time, Jeannette enjoys reading, hiking, and belly dancing. She is also a producer of self-help videos that she posts in an effort to benefit and inspire others.

She conducts individual counseling, couples/marriage counseling, and family counseling, working with all ages from children to adolescents to adults.
Lea has worked in the behavioral health field for over 15 years and has been practicing as a fully Licensed Clinician in San Antonio for over a decade.
Working with active duty service members, Veterans, and their family members for over eight years, Lea has had the privilege of working on all San Antonio military bases as a Military and Family Life Counselor (MFLC).
Helping clients achieve holistic health and wellness individually and as a family, Lea assists the Cohen Clinic in reaching Veterans and their loved ones.
Lea enjoys going to the beach, traveling, and hiking. Additionally, she likes to go Latin and Country dancing, attend Texas Country music concerts, drive out to the Hill Country, and perform orphan mission work.

Olu’s professional experience includes both clinical and administrative responsibilities. With her clinical experience including areas of assessment and diagnosis, trauma, adjustment disorders, depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, and disruptive disorders, Olu has extensive training in Play Therapy, is a certified Sandtray Therapist, and is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

She is a Licensed Professional Counselor, holds a Master’s degree in Community Counseling from The University of Texas at San Antonio and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from St. Mary’s University.
Mishel has worked with children and families in many capacities for over 15 years. She has served military families while at Joint Base San Antonio Fort Sam Houston as a Family Life Specialist, focusing on services to improve quality of life through the Family Life Program and Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP). More recently, Mishel has helped treat Veterans and family member concerns that include post-traumatic stress/trauma, anxiety, depression, transition and adjustment to change, anger, relationships and marriage, communication, child/adolescent issues, and suicidal ideation and behavior.
Her clinical experience includes providing individual therapy to adults, adolescents, and children, couples therapy utilizing The Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy, and trauma-focused treatment utilizing Cognitive Processing Therapy and Prolonged Exposure Therapy.
Mishel finds inspiration to serve Veterans and their families from her own experiences, as the daughter of a Vietnam Veteran. She is passionate about providing encouragement and empowerment as her clients grow in confidence, strength, mindfulness, and self-compassion through their journey.
Mishel enjoys spending time with family and friends. She loves to read and likes adventure, which has led to exploring more of the outdoors with fishing, hiking, jogging and in the near future, kayaking.

Creative, persistent, and passionate about educating, advocating, and serving Veterans, Tiffany helps the Cohen Clinic provide trauma therapy through evidence-based therapy protocols and collaborative work. She is trained in cognitive behavior therapies, motivational interviewing, and prolonged exposure.
In addition to spending time with her two children, Tiffany enjoys running, biking, and volunteering as a team lead for Street Smart, a program that works with individuals with mental health issues who are experiencing homelessness.

Jennifer (Jenny) Boyles is a Case Manager for The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Endeavors, San Antonio where she facilitates and provides community services for Veterans and military families. In addition to her current role, she is also fulfilling a Clinical Intern role by delivering telehealth therapy services to individuals with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.
Working in the Social Work field for over four years, Jenny is currently a student at Our Lady of the Lake University, where she will be graduating with her Master of Social Work degree in December 2020.
Helping the Cohen Clinic clients find support for education, housing, benefits, and employment, she is known for her empathy, intentionality, and professionalism.
Jenny serves as a worship leader for her church and has been singing on stage since she was seven. She recently completed her pastoral certification and, in the future, hopes to go into full-time ministry as a worship pastor.

As a Cohen Veterans Network (CVN) Social Work Fellow, Jennifer (Jen) Hoag Wydler provides therapy and resources to Veterans and military families at The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Endeavors, San Antonio. She is a Licensed Social Worker and has been a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor for over 20 years, both within and outside of the military.
Jen is trained in cognitive behavior therapies, motivational interviewing, cognitive processing therapy, and prolonged exposure. She provides trauma therapy to Cohen Clinic clients through evidenced-based therapy protocols.
As an Air Force retiree, Jen enjoys helping out fellow Veterans. She is a volunteer with Pets Are Wonderful Support (PAWS) and visits Audie Murphy inpatient psychiatry patients with her dog, Gizmo. Additionally, she loves to read, garden, and ride her Harley-Davidson.

Helping the Cohen Clinic enhance progress and stabilization in client care, Dee provides effective medical and medication care, assesses and evaluates clients, and creates appropriate care plans that work together with clients’ therapy to provide the best outcome.
An eight year Army Veteran, Dee served as a Combat Medic/Paramedic. Her extensive experience also includes over 15 years as a Registered Nurse in an Intensive Care Unit and more than eight years working among and with Veterans directly. Additionally, Dee has spent the last five years focusing on her graduate coursework and published research on Veterans.
In her spare time, Dee enjoys spending time with her daughters, working out, watching and playing sports, grilling in the backyard, and taking trips to the park with her dogs.

Carolina (Caro) Echeverria is a Medical Case Manager for The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinics at Endeavors in San Antonio, El Paso, and Killeen, where she works closely with the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners, facilitating the referral process from therapy into medication management.
Focusing on the correspondence between clinic and community providers, Caro eases continuity of care and assists patients with medication refills, prior authorizations, and the transition to providers in the community once the discharge process has been initiated.
She has over eight years of experience in the psychiatry/mental health field and working in inpatient care, with a focus on active duty service members/Veterans/reservists, their families, and pediatrics, prior to working at Endeavors.
When she’s not at work, Caro enjoys traveling, spending time with her family and friends, and spoiling her rescue dog, a pit bull named Holly.

Felicia Niño is the Communication Manager for The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinics at Endeavors in San Antonio, El Paso, and Killeen. She focuses on proper branding, news media and advertising opportunities, event promotions, marketing, publications, the Cohen Clinics social media presence, and is the primary liaison between the clinics, the host-organization, Endeavors, the local Veteran/military family community, and local and national media outlets.
Felicia has a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Texas at San Antonio and over 12 years of Public Relations experience. She has participated in hundreds of LIVE and pre-recorded TV and radio interviews, was featured on The Dodo, secured coverage on ABC’s Good Morning America’s Mission PAWsible: The 'GMA' Doggie Adoptathon and Huffington Post, and was a Fiesta® San Antonio Participating Member Organization Commissioner.
Felicia grew up in a military family where her dad served over 20 years in the United States Air Force. Moving, changing schools, making new friends every few years, and living and traveling the US and Europe led to Felicia becoming highly adaptable, appreciative, and accepting of everyone’s unique experiences and differences.
In her spare time, she enjoys watching Elevation Church messages, All Elite Wrestling (AEW), UFC, and movies with her husband. They have a blended family, five adorable rescue dogs (Browny, Duke, Sherlock, Brutus “Beefy” Beefcake, Pluto), and love spending quality time with their family and friends.

Phylicia Felton is an Intake Coordinator for The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Endeavors, San Antonio where she manages all intake calls and initial appointments, administers paperwork and psychometric screeners, and schedules new clients with appropriate clinical staff.
Screening and scheduling an average of 120 clients each month for care at the clinic, Phylicia works to streamline the intake process, combining the collection of demographics, billing, screening, and scheduling clients during one phone call.
In addition to being a Veteran of the United States Army, Phylicia holds a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology. Utilizing her degree to provide additional client care, she is currently obtaining hours to become a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
Phylicia’s clinical experience includes areas of assessment and diagnosis, as well as individual therapy with adults and children. She is trained in crisis response, suicide prevention, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) Assessment, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples.

Natasha L. Walden is the Outreach Director for The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Endeavors, San Antonio. Serving as a key member of the clinic staff, some of her primary responsibilities are dedicated to managing and executing the clinic’s outreach strategy and developing the referral pipeline, recruiting post-9/11 Veterans, Active Duty Service Members with Tricare referrals, and military families in the community, as well as establishing and maintaining relationships with community partners, the VA, military bases, VSO partners, and resources for in/out referrals.
A Veteran of the United States Military, Natasha has over 20 years of service as an Intelligence Analyst. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and certifications in Equal Opportunity, leadership training, peer to peer facilitation, and Advanced Life Coaching. In addition to her role with the Cohen Clinic, Natasha sits on the Endeavors Diversity and Inclusion Committee as the Events Coordinator, where she helps to educate, train, and promote awareness of ethnicities and equality.
When not working, she enjoys spending time with family, reading, working out, and doing community service.

An Army Veteran, Jose served for ten years and holds a Bachelor’s degree from George Mason University.
A proud member of the clinic’s Administrative Team, he enjoys supporting the Cohen Clinic to ensure that our Veterans and their respective family members are getting “back to better.”

David “Dave” Alvarado is an Administrative Assistant for The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Endeavors, San Antonio. He strives to build a positive client experience through call screening, appointment scheduling, customer service, and other services like utilizing DocuSign and budgetary tracking.
Dave retired from the Air Force after 26 years of service as a Medic. During his service, he oversaw the Hospital Inpatient Units including Intensive Care Unit, Labor & Delivery, and the Medical/Surgical Units.
Dave has a diverse history of leadership and customer service along with a Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Studies and a Master’s degree in Homeland Security. He has been recognized for his volunteer work with the Institute for Human Services Soup Kitchen and Overseas Special Olympics. Joining the Endeavors team gives Dave an opportunity to continue to serve those who serve.
He enjoys spending time with family, watching home renovation shows, exploring culinary adventures, football, and opportunities to learn and teach new things.

Dora Ramirez has been the first line of patient contact in her role as a Program Assistant for The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Endeavors, San Antonio for the last two years. Given the nature of the clinic and what Endeavors represents, she finds it critical to set a positive tone each time she speaks to a client, whether it be taking initial calls, gathering personal information, building rapport, referring to the appropriate clinician, or assisting with scheduling appointments as needed.
With over 35 years of experience in the medical field, Dora knows how crucial teamwork is in order to maintain a smooth-running operation.
Covering multiple specialties and disciplines throughout her career, Dora was most recently a Financial Counselor for an oncology organization. It was there that she understood just how much she truly appreciated the opportunity to help those who were terminally ill. That same level of sincere compassion complements Dora’s current position at the Cohen Clinic in that her ultimate goal is to continue serving the clinic and Endeavors, contributing to its mission of helping Veterans and military families in need.
Dora has been married for 24 years and is the mother of a daughter on the cusp of starting law school. Aside from her family, one of Dora’s strongest passions is rescuing animals- primarily dogs.

Jem Weddle serves as a Program Assistant for The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Endeavors, San Antonio, where she communicates with clients daily to ensure their needs are met. Additionally, she manages weekly clinical statistics and verifies insurance forms.
She helps the Cohen Clinic administration staff to operate more efficiently due to her ability to take on many tasks, all while keeping the mission in mind.
Serving in the military prior to joining the clinic, Jem has many distinctions in the health industry and is currently Pre-Med at the University of Incarnate Word.
In her spare time, Jem enjoys spending time with her 3 dogs.

I visited through my Utep Social Work class. It was a great experience as we got to be exposed to a clinic of its kind for the first time. They have great personnel, and make themselves very flexible and helpful for their clients.

The Cohen Clinics at Endeavors offer services provided by credentialed staff trained to work specifically with the military population. Veterans, active duty service members (with a TRICARE referral), and military families can receive mental health care individually and together in the same place, at the same time, with the same treatment team.

Case management support and local referrals to help with education, employment, financial assistance, housing, and legal issues are also available via the Cohen Clinics.

Your support will directly impact Veterans, active duty service members, and military families in need of services addressing depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, sleep problems, adolescent behavioral issues, relationship and family stress, etc.
